From November 21-23, the annual November vigil to close the SOA/WHINSEC at the gates of Fort Benning will follow the presidential election by two weeks. It will be an opportunity for the progressive movement to set an agenda against oppressive U.S. foreign policy, whatever the result of that election is.
Last year’s vigil was a great success, thousands traveled from around the country and Latin America to take part in a historic gathering where torture survivors, social movement leaders, civil rights activists, grandmothers, anti-war veterans, students, presidential candidates and members of Congress all came together to take a stand against the violence and racism that the SOA/WHINSEC represents.
