“Imagination is the most basic human right” – Hector Aristizábal
Hector Aristizábal will invite us into an intense exploration of the potential of theatre as a path to social transformation and healing. Theatre can be a way for human beings to transform their own lives. Theatre of the Oppressed offers us techniques to address many different forms of oppression. We can use it to explore possibilities for action or as a way to generate dialogue.
Far too many communities are suffering from wounds related to past or present oppressions. How can we address this woundedness? Hector combines Theatre of the Oppressed with other approaches such as Playback Theatre, storytelling and the creation of rituals.
Using a diversity of methods Hector creates spaces to conjure the imagination. In theatre we transform stories into scenes that synthesize and symbolize shared experiences. This way we are being offered a unique opportunity to dive into the soil of our lives and find how our roots are connected. By investing in this soul’s work, we create healthier communities. And a healthy community has more possibilities totransform the reality its people live in.
When? Thursday May 1st – Friday May 2nd, both days from 10h00 until 18h00
