Dragon Dreaming ARTs Village: A Living Experiment in Collective Imagination

These days, it seems we, as humans, struggle to operate with a shared vision for a liveable and possible future.
We are so addicted to the fast and the now of digital platforms and tools that constantly give us more images of what we desire.
And yet, those desires are often just shadows of the old world coming to an end—our old skins still waiting to be shed.
We cannot get enough of what we do not really need.
What if we could see ourselves again in our unique gifts and medicines?
What if we began to heal our wounds and dream together?
Take a pause. Listen to it.
Imagine experiencing yourself as part of an evolving ecosystem and a temporary, co-creative community.
A place where we come together—not as consumers of a programme, but as co-creators of a living village.
Artists, facilitators, storytellers, educators, families, permaculturists, Dragon Dreamers of all ages, and those simply curious to explore another way of being together.
Each practice becomes a gift to the whole village—a space where people can reconnect with themselves, with one another, and with the more-than-human world that surrounds us. Each one of us bring our own unique gifts.
Together, we create moments to breathe within the flow of the village. Places where experience can settle, wisdom can emerge, and collective imagination can deepen.
Because perhaps another world doesn’t begin with a grand plan.
The collective dream is that the ARTs Village becomes more than a single gathering.
Perhaps it begins with a village.
The Dragon Dreaming ARTs Village is an invitation to gather from 10–22 August 2026 on the beautiful island of Saaremaa, Estonia, for two weeks of collective creativity, celebration, learning, and regeneration. It is a living experiment in what becomes possible when we create a temporary village guided by the Dragon Dreaming principles of personal growth, community building, and service to the Earth and Stepping in the Unknown. Dragon Dreaming has inspired thousands of changemakers worldwide as map for radical participation and love in action.
The gathering is hosted by Pöide School on Saaremaa Island, which will provide shared accommodation, meals, workshop spaces, camping opportunities, and easy access to forests, coastline, and the island’s unique landscapes.
What happens when Dragon Dreaming is experienced not only as a methodology, but as a cultural practice?
Throughout the gathering participants will explore systemic change through embodied experience, creativity, celebration, storytelling, movement, theatre, music, ecological practices, and collective dreaming.
Activities will include:
- Dragon Dreaming games and circles
- Storytelling and Water Stories
- Contact improvisation and acroyoga
- Nature art
- Song and sound circles
- Community cooking
- Nature walks and ceremonies
- Educational activities for children and families
- Open Space sessions
- Campfires and celebrations
- Puppet theatre, performances, and surprises
Rather than separating learning from living, the village invites participants to experience learning as something woven into everyday community life.
Participants are welcome to stay for a few days or for the entire two weeks.
That it becomes a living prototype.
A model that can travel from place to place, inspiring communities to create their own temporary villages rooted in creativity, collaboration, celebration, and care.
The international hosting team brings together diverse backgrounds in Dragon Dreaming, storytelling, theatre, visual arts, education, ecology, and community facilitation:
- Svetlana Zabolotnaia (USA/Moldova), Dragon Dreaming facilitator and community connector
- Jill Olesker (USA), storyteller, teacher and creator of Water Stories
- Indrek Nõgu (Estonia), nature artist, permaculturist and didgeridoo maker
- Johanna Koppel (Estonia), actress and founder of Flying Cow Theatre
- Ave Teeääre (Estonia), visual artist and creator of Traveling Puppet Theatre Nõu Puu
Together they are nurturing a space where everyone can contribute, everyone can learn, and everyone belongs.
ImaginAction is Joining the Village
At ImaginAction, we have long explored how participatory arts can help communities reconnect—with themselves, with one another, and with the living world. That is why we are delighted to become part of this year’s ARTs Village.
From 13–20 August, Uri Noy Meir, Ilaria Olimpico, and their daughters will join the village, bringing practices inspired by The Work That Reconnects, participatory theatre, and community ritual.
Rather than offering isolated workshops, we hope to contribute moments that support the village’s own living rhythm.
Together we will host practices such as the Truth Mandala, the Council of All Beings, and other simple rituals of reconnection that invite participants to pause, listen deeply, honour grief and gratitude, and rediscover the relationships that sustain life.
