Applied Theatre and Social Arts – Flexi-university course with Rangbuhmi

  • Posted by Uri Noy Meir
  • Date June 7, 2022

Slowly but surely we in ImaignActionm collaborate with global partners to build and iterate a community-led Flexi- university model for future education. As an international and intercultural community of artists and social arts practitioners, we value a teaching-learning process which puts the learner and social action at the forefront of the educational experience.

The upcoming The “Applied Theatre* and Social Arts course (BATCH 2) by Rangbhumi & ImaginAction” has embedded in it this Flexi- University vision and will support Trainers, Image Consultants, HR professionals, Artists, School Educators, Theatre practitioners, Psychologists, and Social Workers, in enacting their personal and professional aspirations and dreams.

*Applied theatre is generally accepted as an umbrella term, embracing a wide range of theatre practices that share intentionality to provoke or shape social change, including theatre in education, theatre for development, youth theatre, museum theatre, reminiscence theatre and prison theatre.

Newspaper Theater is a breakthrough tool developed by Brazilian visionary theatre maker Augusto Boal in the 1970s during the times of the military dictatorship in Brazil. It is the first technique of the Theatre of the Oppressed, Boal’s praxis of aesthetics of liberation, and still is a fresh approach to why and how to do theatre.
