A great transition – a message from Hector

I am deeply moved and inspired by this new transition of ImaginAction and the creative energy and input coming through all of us. We are the vessels and the midwives of the new world that is emerging. In the meantime I continue my work with Reconectando here in Colombia and developing my company Dreaming Action . The pandemic has inspired us to rethink our lives and re-invent ourselves to be able to meet the new challenges. We are aware that what Joanna Macy has called the Great Turning as well as The Great Unravelling are happening. We welcome the challenge and invite you to partner with us in activating our imaginations and galvanizing our actions.  

Thanks to a generous donation of The Jarvis & Constance Doctorow Family Foundation, Diane Lefer and I are offering new workshops to the PTV (Program for Tortured Victims) clients in Los Angeles. With Reconectando I am engaged in several projects including a Theater of Witness project called: “Sacred Territory” that will future the lives of seven powerful women (indigenous, afro-Colombian, LGBTI, an environmental activist, a guerrilla woman from FARC and a paramilitary woman from the AUC autodefensas and finally a woman that survived a terrorist bomb from El Nogal in Bogota. You can see a little teaser here. As Reconectando we are seeking funding for this project which will involve not only the play but also a film about the creative process and a film of the play itself. Later on, some of the actors will travel with the film and engage in social dialogue to talk about the legacy of the Truth Commission, the conditions for reconciliation and no-repetition of the conflict.

Finally, we are developing what will be our on-going mentoring program which has been one of the pillars of our work over the years. Please stay tuned in case that you wish to be part of this program.
