Rights and Dreams workshop of Newspaper Theater and Dragon Dreaming
An invitation to re-imagine together a wounded world and shift into a new story. A way to engage in dialogue, to use our bodies as source of knowledge, and to set in motion personal and social transformation in °oppressed° and °dis-empowered° groups.
First we develop our critical thinking and an emphatic reading of reality through the body with the Theatre of the Oppressed technique of Newspaper Theater . Transforming news articles and non dramatic text into short performances allowing us to read °between the lines°, re appropriate and contextualize the image of the world, as presented in those texts. We than connect with the power of our dreams and transform them into action with Dragon Dreaming , an holistic and radically participatory collective way to transform dreams into projects. This we give us a clear framework to move from action to reflection and from reflection into action. A way for a group of individuals to organize collective action moving with a new awareness and a sense of empowerment.
The workshop is adapt to people from all walks of life and could be specifically useful for both educators, artists, social workers, students and people that are interested in group facilitation and multiplication of the skills and know hows gained in their local context.
