Who are We? What is our Work?
The Presencing Institute has developed Theory U which shows how individuals, teams, organizations and large systems can build the essential leadership capacities needed to address the root causes of today’s social, environmental, and spiritual challenges.
Through practicing Social Presencing Theater (SPT), groups, people and whole systems to move from “ego to eco” awareness, and tune into the emerging higher future possibility.
In SPT groups become more aware of three bodies: their own, the social body and that of the earth. They perceive both individual and systemic blocks through physical sculptures which move from old to new possibilities. This gives a shared language for reflection and can provide ways for both, students, citizens, educators and decision-makers a way to engage in co-sensing the future by discovering inner knowing at a systemic level and an understanding of the group’s, and implicitly, the world’s highest potential.
It’s not enough to have skilled individuals. It is the space between them that needs to be awake as well for the system to serve the individuals.
Noun: the awareness to the quality of a shared space.
Being aware of the we-nees – what does it change?
SPT practices are designed to cultivate a sense of coherence and belonging. They can be a gateway to discovering a kind of body intelligence or wisdom that lives in all of us. From a sense of unconditional appreciation, our body and mind feel synchronized. We feel the balance between the groundedness of the earth and the openness of the sky. We feel a sense of basic healthiness, even if our life is stressful and difficult. We know who we are. There is a sense of deep well-being, of knowing that who we are is basically good and healthy. Hence, The work of SPT practitioners is to set up the conditions that can give rise to generative social fields that bring forth in our society compassionate dialogues, relationships, organizations, projects, and initiatives that are healthy and creative
